
Melanie Parke was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, attended Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School and on a Merit Scholarship, the Herron School of Art. She received her BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago with a National Leadership Award. A recipient of several Professional Residencies including Oxbow Summer School, Dorland Mountain Colony, Yosemite, and Sleeping Bear Dunes, she has also been instrumental in establishing artist in residence programs in six national parks. Her paintings have been exhibited at the Bowery Gallery in New York, Freeport Museum of Art, Midland Center for the Arts, Muskegon Museum of Art, and are in the collections of the United States Department of the Interior.

Richard Kooyman was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and received his BFA from Grand Valley State University with a Merit Scholarship. He earned his MFA from Ohio State University where he studied on a Full Fellowship. He has won numerous awards including the Sally Avery Fellowship at the Vermont Studio Center, The Michigan Governors Award, National Endowment for the Arts Grant, and the Michigan Council for the Arts Grant. His work has been exhibited at the Art of the 20th Century Armory Exhibition in New York, the Ann Nathan Gallery, Smithsonian Craft Show, Manistee Art Institute, and the Charles Wutsum Museum.
