Melanie and I recently were fortunate enough to be guests at the only private cottage on North Manitou Island. One of a chain of Islands of the NW coast of Michigan. North and South Manitou are park of the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. We painted and gather information for further work.

The new roof is completed over Melanies studio along with many other needed projects. This summer has been very busy and we are looking forward to an exciting fall. We will be spending some time in the Glen Haven area painting as well as a unique painting trip to North Manitou Island in the Sleeping [...]

Construction continues on Melanies studio. A complete roof reconstruction was needed and a new court yard entry was added at the same time. Our studios are, of course, still open for visits if your in the area. Call ahead for an appoint. We'll put the wine on ice.
It was a great three days of weather and learning at The Old Art Building in Leland Michigan for Richards class Painting the Landscape in Oils-Going Small Simple and Beautiful. Thanks to all who worked so hard and contributed so much.

Spring has sprung at our studios here in Chief. Its a busy time with paintings being shipped to galleries, studio work and working in the gardens. Here are two new Melanie Parke paintings which will be added to her gallery shortly

Whenever we travel we do a lot of work in sketchbooks. Its a great way to record information and build a collection of work from a particular time and place. On occassion we will show examples of them here.
